Monday Motivation: Getting Out of Your Own Way

You know what? Sometimes we can be our greatest obstacle. No one can stand in the way of your greatness, but you. Don’t get me wrong, there are many valid excuses,  genuine road blocks and heavy situations that might encourage you to give up on yourself but none of them should be stronger than your will to be great!

If you find yourself having one of those days where negative thoughts or excuses are starting to cloud your way of thinking, try practicing these 3 steps to reaching your full potential. After all, you are a Goody Gal!

3 Tips

Tip #1: Remember, You’re a Badass!

When you start to feel down or stuck in a rut just take a moment to think on all of the reasons why you’re great. What have you accomplished in your life thus far? Take those positive thoughts and let them propel you into action to add to the list of badassery (yes, that’s a word)!

Tip #2: Set Small Goals

Rome wasn’t built in a day, or at least that’s what I’m told. It’s great to have large goals that make a significant impact on your life but you’ll need to take small steps to get there. Break things down into digestible pieces and start tackling one task at a time. Before you know it the accomplishments will start adding up.

Tip #3: Reward Yourself

Because, I mean, who doesn’t love a gift? If you have something that you’ve been wanting but it’s a little too grand to just pick up on your way home from work, use that as motivation. Reward yourself for hitting milestones and accomplishing your goals. You earned it!

Good Monday morning Goody Gals! I want to discuss a topic today that hits very close to home, woman to woman competition vs. collaboration. Why is this a thing? So many women feel as though there’s only room for one powerful, beautiful, strong bad ass in their space when in reality, it’s just not true.

This mindset is what hinders us when we are trying to be productive entrepreneurs…a lot of us just don’t know how to collaborate without feeling threatened. I’ve personally encountered this many times and it just boggles my mind. There’s enough space for all of us to boost each other up and help wherever possible.

3 Tips to Effective Collaboration

  1. SPEAK UP
    • There’s nothing that kills the vibe of a collaboration like a one-sided conversation. The purpose is to work together, speak up and share ideas…so do that!
  2. R-E-S-P-E-C-T (I hope you sang that as you read it)
    • Respect each others voice and input. You can’t have a healthy collaboration without respect.
  3. YOU BETTA RECOGNIZE
    • Be sure to recognize all ideas that are thrown on the table and give credit where credit is due. Don’t be the chick that tries to take ownership of other’s great ideas…that’s not cool man.

3 Tips to Feeling More Confident

Happy Tuesday Goody Gals,

It’s a beautiful day and I just wanted to come and share some happiness with you. On days when it’s nice outside and you wake up feeling like the happiest girl in the world, confidence is not usually an issue. It’s the gray days that you wake up on the wrong side of the bed, mad at the world that confidence can elude you. Here are a few tips to help you carry that “sunny day confidence” forward, even on the grayest of days.

Tip 1: Wake Up Again

There’s nothing wrong with a re-do. Yes, even as adults we need these sometimes. It only takes 5 minutes to lay back down, rest a moment then get up slowly and do some in-bed yoga stretches to put you in a better mood to take on the day.

Tip 2: Get Ugly

You know when you work out so hard and happen to catch yourself in the mirror making that ugly face? That’s a good thing. Put in work ladies! When you’re getting your sweat on don’t be concerned with how you look, who cares? The goal is to work your ass off so that you feel accomplished which in turn leads to confidence.

Tip 3: Slay Girl, Slay!

Clothes don’t make the woman but they sure do help the woman to feel more confident. The right outfit can set the tone for how you see yourself. You should be feelin’ yourself every day because honestly, you are awesome. Don’t shy away from that.
